Board of Trustees


Sheena Butts

Sheena M. Butts is the Associate Vice President of Surgical and Procedural Services for Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the College of Charleston, a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida, and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management from Penn State University. She is a certified ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Prior to joining Lakeland Regional Health, Sheena taught middle school mathematics at Blake Academy. Sheena is passionate about changing the paradigm of healthcare delivery and has mentored numerous high school and college student interns. She is a Lakeland native who was Valedictorian of McKeel Academy’s 2001 graduating class.

Michael Clanton

Michael Clanton, is the SVP- Area Executive of CenterState Bank, N.A. He began his career in 2001 with a local community bank and joined CenterState Bank, N.A. in 2010. Michael is a graduate of Bartow High School and University of West Georgia where he played baseball while earning his B.S. degree in Finance. He and his wife Katie are Bartow natives and have three children currently attending McKeel schools. Michael brings 17 years of banking, financial and management experience to his role with The Schools of McKeel Academy. In addition to our board, Michael serves as the Board Chair of Heartland for Children.

Seth McKeel

Seth McKeel, is the Managing Partner of Southern Strategy Group of Tampa Bay and recently concluded a long and distinguished career in public service that began in 2000 with his election to the Lakeland City Commission at the age of 24. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006 and re-elected subsequently until the conclusion of his eight year term limit in November of 2014.

Seth is a native of Polk County and the grandson of Seth G. McKeel for whom the original school is named. His vast experience with the charter school movement and serving on the McKeel governing boards since their inception has proven valuable to the schools’ growth.

A graduate of the University of Florida (UF), Seth was awarded the Presidential Medallion, one of the University’s highest awards, for his contributions and service to UF and higher education in our state. Seth is a Graduate of Leadership Florida, Leadership Lakeland, and a member of Florida Blue Key – “Florida’s oldest and most prestigious Leadership Honorary since 1923.“

In addition to our board, Seth proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida and is a member of Leadership Florida’s West Central Florida Regional Council.

Seth and his wife Kim, live in Lakeland with their two children Seth, III and Caroline.


Andrew Snyder, Chair

A Florida native and fifth generation Lakeland resident, Andrew Snyder is the Graphics and IT Director for Dixie Signs, Inc. As a third generation Florida Sign Contractor, Andrew specializes in the manufacturing and installation of professional custom signage throughout the state of Florida where he’s also a licensed Real Estate Agent. A graduate of Florida State University, Polk State College and Lakeland Senior High, Andrew has served his community in various capacities. In addition to serving as the current Board Chair for The Schools of McKeel Academy, Andrew also serves as the Vice Chair for the City of Lakeland Planning and Zoning Board. He was past Chair for the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board, as well as a member of the City of Lakeland Code Compliance Board and a Board Director with The Lakeland Rotary Club. He is a graduate of Leadership Lakeland Class 30 and a proud volunteer with youth sports. He and his wife Carly are the parents of two McKeel students’.

Stephanie L. Campbell

Stephanie L. Campbell is the Business Development Manager and Grant Coordinator for Polk State College Corporate College. She brings over 30 years of education, training and workforce development experience to her position on the Board. She has a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida Southern College and her Master’s in Education from Nova Southeastern University. On the McKeel board since 2012, she is the chairman of the Governance committee and a member of the Executive Committee. Ms. Campbell is a native of Winter Haven, a Winter Haven High School graduate, has four children, and has a passion for youth programs in Polk County.

Frank McCaulley III

Frank McCaulley is a Polk County native who attended Boswell Elementary, Polk City Elementary, Stambaugh Middle School and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1998. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Florida Southern College (2001) and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University (2005).

Frank currently serves as the Director of Operations for Trinity Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the Lakeland Kiwanis Club and a graduate of Leadership Lakeland (Class XXXIV).

He has been married to Laura for 17 years and they both taught at McKeel Academy of Technology in the early 2000’s. They live in Lakeland with their four children who each attend McKeel.


Michael Peeples

As the Director of Land Acquisition and Development, Michael Peeples is responsible for all the real estate activities for Southern Homes of Polk County. He is also co-owner of MEGG Investments, a local real estate investment group. Michael is a graduate of Lakeland High School and Tennessee Tech where he played football while earning his BS in Finance and MBA, with an emphasis in management information systems. He and his wife Katherine are Lakeland natives, and both want to have an influence in early education not only for their own children, but to make the community where they grew up a better place. They have a son in kindergarten attending South McKeel Academy, and a 3-year old daughter. Michael currently serves as President of the Achievement Academy Board of Trustees, is a member of the Leadership Lakeland Alumni and Polk County Builders Association.

Phillip E. Walker

Phillip Walker graduated from Kathleen High School and has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Rollins College. Prior to his retirement as owner and agency principal of a Lakeland Allstate Insurance agency for over 26 years, Mr. Walker was a Lakeland Police Officer. He presently serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, the Board of Directors for Chapters Health System, Christ Community Christian Center Church, Board of Trustees for McKeel Schools of Technology and a member of other organizations. He is also Founder and Board Member of the Lakeland/Polk County Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In 2015 he was inducted into the Kathleen High School Hall of Fame.

As a City Commissioner, Mr. Walker serves on the following committees: Legislative Committee, Utility Committee, Finance Committee, Real Estate and Transportation, and the Transportation Planning Organization. He serves on the Florida League of Cities Advocacy Committee, being a part of the Ridge League of Cities Regional Advocacy Team serving on the Board for the Ridge League of Cities. He is also serves on the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust Board and is President of the Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials.

Mr. Walker is married to Cappie D. Cooke and they have three children, Janelle, Jaela, and Christian Phillip, and one granddaughter, Zoë. There are also two other young men who are a part of his immediate family, Tony and John Eric.
